How do You Jump Start a Car?

Car batteries, sad to say, can sometimes die on you at the worst possible time. Extreme weather, leaving the vehicle's headlights on, and other issues may drain a battery. As long as the battery isn't suffering from dead cells or other problems, a simple jump start might revive it.

Use jumper cables to connect a fully-operating car to one with a dead battery to deliver the jumpstart. The cables do need to be properly connected to the correct positive and negative terminals. Failure to do so could destroy the alternator or cause other serious issues.

Once the ignition on the car with the dead battery is turned on, the charge should start up the vehicle. The car must continue to run for 20 minutes or more to ensure the battery keeps the charge.

The time may come for a driver in Davison, MI to buy a new battery or fix a problem with a car's electrical system. At Hank Graff Chevrolet, we can help you out with such service.
