Salt, kitty litter, or sand?

Snow and ice can be a headache when it comes to driving, but thankfully there are ways to help with that headache.

Sand is great for driveways. It is safe for your plants and pets, and doesn't turn into a big slushy mess when ice melts. It's also the cheapest option on this list and easy to find.

Rock salt is nice when you are stuck in snow. It melts ice in temperatures above 12 degrees. The not so nice part is that it dissolves in the water and can harm plants and animals. It also can be hard to find and the most expensive option.

Kitty litter is another one that is great when you are stuck. It is suggested to keep some in your vehicle as a just in case thing. It helps give traction when spread behind the wheels and absorbs water. But turns into a big mess after it absorbs too much water.
